The Facilities Assistant is responsible for assisting in total maintenance of the facility, including a 34,000 square foot building, and the grounds surrounding the building. The position is responsible for supporting all safety efforts and efficient operations of the Shelter. Interested applicants must be experienced in maintenance or craft occupations and possess outstanding problem solving and customer service skills. Duties will involve minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical equipment repairs, as well as installing new equipment and fixtures, coordinating security services. Additionally, this position is integral in ensuring the facility and grounds are clean and properly maintained through landscaping responsibilities. Other duties that may be required are crematory operations and other shelter support roles for other departments. This is a full-time position. Candidate must have a valid Colorado driver license free of major violations, reliable transportation, the ability to lift 75 pounds, and a willingness to have a flexible schedule and respond to emergencies and callbacks.

Reporting directly to the Shelter’s Chief Veterinarian, the Associate Veterinarian helps to lead the Shelter’s healthcare team, provides excellent medical and surgical care to the Shelter’s animals as well as public animals, participates and assists in receipt of and processing incoming transfer animals, and ensures the Shelter provides the highest quality of humane and professional veterinary care.

The Veterinary Technician will administer medications and vaccinations, maintain clinical records in a computer software system, and perform initial and ongoing health assessments of animals to note any changes in their condition. A portion of the scheduled days are spent in a high-quality, high-volume surgery environment. Prior experience and proficiency in anesthesia and surgery is required.
