SHELTER SERVICES SPECIALIST:

Position Summary:

The Shelter Services Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to the Jefferson County community and its animal control officers. In a friendly, efficient, and professional manner, this position is responsible for ensuring that animals are adopted to homes appropriately and with thorough care. Additional responsibilities include facilitating surrenders and returning animals to owners, performing intake duties, cleaning kennels, feeding animals and general animal care, and supporting foster care and veterinary services for pick-ups and drop-offs, when needed. The Shelter Services Specialist is also responsible for data entry into the ShelterBuddy animal management software program and securing financial transactions and handling money per established policies and procedures. ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIAN

Position Summary:

The Animal Care Technician ensures that all animal housing areas are clean, disinfected, and maintained per the Shelter and Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) standards.

VETERINARIAN

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Veterinary Services, the Veterinarian is responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality standards of animal care, quality diagnostics, treatment and surgical services to animals served by Foothills Animal Shelter in accordance with FAS policies, procedures and philosophy. Foothills Animal Shelter accepts companion animals including dogs, cat and exotics (small mammals and birds) This position also includes serving community animals through public spay/neuter and preventive care programs.

VET tech

Position Summary:

The individual will administer medications and vaccinations, maintain clinical records in a computer software system, participate and assist in receipt of and processing incoming animals, and perform initial and ongoing health assessments of animals to note any changes in their condition. A portion of the scheduled days are spent in a high-quality, high-volume surgery environment. Prior experience and proficiency in anesthesia and surgery is required. The position requires knowledge in animal care, treatments, disease, and proper restraint and will require involvement in humane euthanasia procedures. Applicants must be self-motivated as well as a good team player, possess good technical skills in surgery, experience with animal handling, health and behavior, and take pride in their compassion for animals. This position collaborates with employees at all levels of the organization as well as with the community.
