Toby, an older Australian Shepherd, was first brought to the Shelter after he was found wandering the streets with his muzzle bound shut with tape. Considering the dog’s condition, everyone was surprised by his gentle, friendly demeanor.
Toby’s good-natured, loving spirit never waned even though he was a victim of abuse. After several months in foster care, Toby was adopted by his foster parent, Foothills Animal Shelter’s Executive Director, who also gave him a full-time job as Shelter Mascot!
In September, Toby started one of his new “jobs”: hanging out at the Lakewood Police Department! A few times per week, Toby goes to Lakewood PD to help de-stress staff and boost morale—welcoming officers as they check-in for duty and supporting them when they return from the streets. We think he’s thoroughly enjoying his new role!
