About Us

Welcome!

Metro Denver Animal Welfare Alliance logo, a circle badge that includes blue and teal rabbit, cat, dog, and bird icons and the acronym MDAWA.Foothills Animal Shelter is an open admission facility serving Jefferson County in the state of Colorado and is a member of the Metro Denver Animal Welfare Alliance. We are driven to make lives better for animals and people in our community.

We are a Socially Conscious Animal Welfare Organization, creating the best outcomes for all animals that enter our care. We place every healthy and safe animal for adoption. We assess the medical and behavioral needs of homeless animals and ensure these needs are thoughtfully addressed. And, we alleviate suffering through thoughtful euthanasia.

As a Fear Free Shelter, our team operates with the knowledge and tools to look after both a pet’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

MISSION

Foothills Animal Shelters mission is: Providing support to our surrounding community through education, services that strengthen the human-pet bond, and humane care for the animals we serve.

  • We Continuously Evolve: We actively look and work towards the future. We create an innovative and inspirational environment. We embrace fresh ideas and believe collaboration is the key to achieving our goals.
  • We Own It:  We believe transparency and open communication allows our community to trust us. We build a stronger community for ourselves and others by exceeding expectations through flexibility, reliability and compassion.

Foothills Animal Shelter Technology Accessibility Statement
Foothills Animal Shelter is committed to providing equitable access to our services to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. The Shelter is actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

The Shelter’s ongoing accessibility efforts work towards being in line with the (1) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA criteria and (2) 8 CCR 1501-11, Final Rules Establishing Technology Accessibility Standards. These rules and guidelines not only help make web content more accessible for people with sensory, cognitive and mobility disabilities, but conformance with these rules and guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.

The Shelter’s efforts are just part of a meaningful change in making all State of Colorado services inclusive and accessible. While the Shelter strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the Shelter’s website.

The Shelter welcomes your comments and feedback on how to improve its technology’s accessibility for users with disabilities and for requests for accommodation to any of the Shelter’s online services. Please let the Shelter know if you encounter accessibility barriers. The Shelter is committed to responding within five business days.
