Adoption Process

Come visit our Adoption Centers, open daily, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adoption visits end at 4:30 p.m.

Placing an animal on hold:

If you need additional time to think about your adoption prior to taking an animal home, we offer an adoption hold program. You may place an animal on hold in-person and over the phone* (NEW in 2024!) during regular operating business hours for a $25 fee. Holds expire after 24 hours, are non-refundable and are not applied towards the adoption fee.

*Holds placed over the phone via voicemail are not accepted.

Adoption fees:

The adoption fees help offset the cost of housing, feeding, training and medical care for the thousands of animals we see at our Shelter each year.

Included with the adoption:

Each dog and cat adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, microchip ID, 30 days of pet insurance through MetLife Pet Insurance, and a voucher for a free veterinary office visit. These items hold no cash value if not applicable.

Returning an adopted animal:

Though we hope an animal is the right fit when they go to a new home, we know that is not always the case. If an animal is relinquished within 30 days of their adoption, 100% of the adoption fee will be refunded.
