For five decades, Foothills Animal Shelter has proudly stood as Jefferson County’s only full-service animal shelter, serving thousands of pets and people every year. On Saturday, July 18, from 11 am to 2 pm, we invite our wonderful community to join us for a special milestone edition of our annual Shelter Showcase.
Swing by for a family-friendly open house featuring shelter tours, interactive educational stations that detail our services, past and present, and 50% off on adoption fees for adult dogs and cats! Enjoy a complimentary lunch on our patio and a sweet treat.
Attendance is free, with the option to join donation-based activities supporting the vital programs that make life better for the pets and people in our community.

Event Highlights
Behind-the-Scenes Shelter Tours: see first-hand how we help the pets and people of our community as Jefferson County’s only full-service animal shelter!- Family-Friendly Activities: join hands-on activities including arts & crafts and the opportunity to “adopt” a plush pet to learn firsthand how we care for our real animals every day.
- Meet Bernie: from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., stop by at meet and grab a photo with Bernie from the Colorado Avalanche!
- Adoption Promotion: between July 13 and 20, we’re offering 50% off on adoption fees for all dogs and cats one year and older, thanks to our sponsor, Adopt a Pet Shelter Plus!
- Tasty Treats: Enjoy a complimentary lunch thanks to our Bark-B-Que sponsor, Credit Union of Denver! For your sweet tooth, grab a custom anniversary treat.
- Donation Drive: bring in two or more items from our wish list for the animals and receive a small Foothills treat as a token of our appreciation!
