Jackie arrived at Foothills from one of our local partner shelters after they received a large group of dogs from one home, many in rough shape! Jackie needs a bestie, and her ideal family will be patient, accepting, and graceful in their understanding of where she’s come from and the likely road bumps ahead.
As a dog accustomed to living in a dog dense environment with insufficient care, she is likely used to soiling in her living space and may need some extra support from her new family to unlearn old habits and adopt a more preferred outdoor housetraining routine, or an environment able to accommodate a hygienic indoor option, particularly during the learning process.
One of Jackie’s greatest skills is her ability to be companionable with a variety of other dogs, and joining a multi-dog household where she can fall back on canine friendships as both security blanket and role model may help her settle in most quickly. Friendships with people come less easily to her, and while we anticipate with time that familiar affection will develop, she’s much more likely in new or busy situations to tend towards introversion than the easy flirtations of a social butterfly. At this time, for her comfort, Jackie is available for adoption to families with children over the age of 10.
