Foothills Animal Shelter Accepting Pets from Quarry Fire Evacuation Areas
Update 8/6/24 at 10:30 am – all mandatory evacuations have been lifted. For more information, please visit the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. If Foothills Animal Shelter is providing temporary emergency shelter to your evacuated pet, we request that you make arrangements to pick up your pet as soon as possible. If you are unable to pick up your animal, please call us to designate an authorized party to pick up your animal on your behalf. Foothills Animal Shelter has free pet food and pet supplies available to you.

EVACUATION NOTICE
Jefferson County has issued an evacuation order for areas impacted by the Quarry Fire.
For communities under a mandatory evacuation order, Foothills Animal Shelter provides sheltering to pets residing within Jefferson County evacuation areas at no cost to the animal owners.
Please bring your companion pets to Foothills Animal Shelter located at 580 McIntyre Street in Golden for emergency sheltering.
Please bring your cattle, horses and other livestock to Jefferson County Fairgrounds located at 15200 W. 6th Ave in Golden, right next door to Foothills Animal Shelter.

- Dakota Ridge High School for emergency shelter updates; Dakota Ridge High School is being used as an evacuation site for people impacted by the Quarry Fire in Deer Creek Canyon. The American Red Cross and the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office are running this site.

ANIMAL EVACUEE HOSTS
Foothills has set up a resource for evacuated pet owners to be connected with community members willing to offer temporary boarding to animal evacuees. How does it work?
Hosts can submit their information, contact details, and the species they are able to shelter via Google Form.
Evacuated pet owners can view this information and reach out to hosts directly to arrange temporary boarding for their pets.
